Twitter unfollowers: who doesn't follow you back on X
Select the data archive X gives you to see which accounts you follow don't follow you back. No login and no API: the ZIP is read in this browser tab and never uploaded. X's archive lists accounts by ID only, so each result links to the profile.
No ZIP yet? Request it first (step 1 below); you get an email when it's ready. Already downloaded it? On iPhone it's in the Files app under Downloads, on Android in the Downloads folder.
No ZIP yet? Three steps
-
Request your archive from X
Open X's download page (opens in a new tab)Your download is usually ready within minutes to a few hours, and you get an email. Then come back to this page.
Which options do I pick?
On X, open Settings and privacy → Your account → Download an archive of your data, confirm your password and choose:
- Request archive
-
Wait for the notification
X usually needs 24 hours or more. You'll get an email and a notification when your archive is ready to download.
-
Upload the ZIP here
We read data/follower.js and data/following.js. X only includes account IDs, not usernames, so every result links to the profile instead.
Your results
History on this device
Only the account names are stored, in this browser. That's how the next analysis can show who unfollowed you.
Safari can delete data that websites saved if you don't visit them for 7 days. Download a backup file to keep your history, and restore it before your next analysis.
How it works
- Request your archive from X. On x.com open More → Settings and privacy → Your account → Download an archive of your data. Confirm your password, enter the code X sends you, then click Request data. X asks for your password on its own pages, never on ours.
- Wait for X, then download the ZIP. X says preparing the archive may take a few days. You get an email, and a push notification if you use the app. The file is named like
twitter-2026-09-27-….zip. - Select the ZIP above. You don't need to unzip it. The tool reads your follower and following lists from the
datafolder, compares them and shows the result on this page.
X doesn't let you pick parts of the archive: you always get your posts, messages and media too. The guide to downloading your X archive covers the app steps and what's in the ZIP.
X's archive contains account IDs, not usernames
Your results show numbers, not names. In follower.js and following.js, X stores each account only as a numeric account ID plus a link. There is no @username, no display name, no profile picture and no follow date.
So each row reads "Account ID 1234567890". Its Open button goes to x.com/i/user/ plus that ID, and X shows the profile in a new tab. If X asks you to log in first, use a browser where you're signed in. You can search by account ID but not by @username. With no dates in the archive, you can keep the archive's order or sort by ID.
What the results show
- Don't follow you back: accounts you follow that are not in your followers list.
- You don't follow back: accounts that follow you that you don't follow.
- Mutual: accounts you follow that also follow you.
- Unfollowed you and New followers: only when an earlier archive of the same account was analyzed and saved in this browser (see below).
Long lists load 200 rows at a time. "Download this list (CSV)" saves the whole list you're viewing, with the account ID and profile URL of each account, for Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. "Try with sample data" shows the layout with made-up IDs.
"Doesn't follow you back" is not "unfollowed you"
One archive is a snapshot. An account on the "Don't follow you back" list may never have followed you, may have unfollowed you at some point, or may be suspended or deactivated. Someone who unfollowed you and whom you don't follow isn't on it at all.
To see who actually unfollowed you, you need a before and after:
- Leave Remember this result on this device checked. The account IDs from your lists are saved in this browser's storage (IndexedDB). They are not sent to us.
- Weeks later, request a new archive from X and analyze it in the same browser.
- The Unfollowed you list shows every account ID that was in your followers last time and isn't anymore. That includes people who unfollowed you and accounts that were deleted, suspended or deactivated in between.
Analyze archives in the order you downloaded them. The date shown is the day of your previous analysis, not the date X created that archive. Saved results are matched by your @username from account.js, so if you changed your username in between, there is nothing to compare with. A private window, clearing site data or switching browsers starts over, and "Delete saved history" removes the saved lists at any time.
Large, split or already unzipped archives
- Several gigabytes: in current browsers the tool unpacks only the files it needs and never reads your photos and videos. Older browsers have to load the whole ZIP into memory, which stops at 2 GB.
- Several ZIP files: select all parts together. Split follower lists are read in full. If a part listed in the archive's
manifest.jsis missing, you get an error instead of an incomplete result. - Already unzipped (Safari on Mac does this): drag the unzipped folder onto the box, or select
follower.js,following.jsand anyfollower-part…files from itsdatafolder together. - Archives from before 2018 contain no follower lists. The tool tells you so, and you need to request a new archive.
Privacy: what happens to your archive
The ZIP is read by JavaScript in this browser tab. The tool makes no network request with your archive or your results, doesn't log in to X and doesn't use the X API, so X doesn't see that you checked. Besides the two lists it reads only account.js (your username, to keep saved results of different accounts apart) and manifest.js (to check that no list part is missing). Your posts, direct messages and media are never unpacked. Google Analytics and AdSense load only if you accept cookies. Details are in the privacy policy.
Check it yourself: load this page, go offline, then select your ZIP. In current browsers the analysis still works.
Limitations
- Not live. Results reflect the moment X built your archive. To check again, you need a new archive.
- IDs, not names. You find out who an account is by opening its profile link.
- No history before your first saved analysis. X doesn't provide a list of past unfollowers, so no archive-based tool can show them.
- No actions on your account. The tool can't follow, unfollow or block anyone. You do that yourself on X.
Why not use an app that logs in to X?
Login apps are faster and usually show usernames, but:
- The official API costs money. For an app reading your followers or following, X's published price was $0.010 per account returned when we checked in September 2026. A free app has to cover that or get the data another way.
- X's Terms prohibit scraping without X's written consent. An app that asks for your password or logs in as you in a browser works outside X's published interfaces.
- Bulk unfollowing breaks X's rules. X prohibits mass following and unfollowing, especially automated, and may lock or suspend accounts for it.
To remove an app you connected earlier, go to Settings and privacy → Security and account access → Apps and sessions → Connected apps, select the app and revoke its access. If you gave an app your password, change it.
Frequently asked questions
How can I see who unfollowed me on X (Twitter)?
X doesn't show a list of people who unfollowed you. Your data archive contains the accounts that follow you and the accounts you follow at the moment it was created. Analyze it here with "Remember this result on this device" checked. When you analyze a newer archive later in the same browser, the tool lists who was a follower last time and isn't anymore.
Why does the list show numbers instead of @usernames?
X's archive stores followers and followed accounts only as numeric account IDs. It contains no @username, display name or follow date. Click Open next to an ID to see the profile on X. If X asks you to log in, use a browser where you're signed in to X.
Do I have to give UnfollowTool my X password?
No. You never enter your X username or password on this site. X asks for your password and a verification code on its own settings page when you request the archive. Here you only select the ZIP file.
Does X tell anyone that I checked?
No. UnfollowTool doesn't connect to X, so there is nothing for X to register, and the accounts on your lists aren't told anything. X also doesn't send notifications when someone unfollows you or when you unfollow someone.
How long does it take to get my X archive?
X says preparing the archive may take a few days. X emails you when it's ready and sends a push notification if you use the app.
My X archive is several gigabytes or came as several ZIPs. Can I still use it?
Yes, in an up-to-date browser. The tool unpacks only the follower and following files and skips your media. If your archive came as several ZIP files, select all of them together. For very large archives, a computer is safer than a phone.
Can UnfollowTool unfollow people for me?
No. The tool has no access to your account, so it can't follow, unfollow or block anyone. Each row links to the profile on X, where you decide yourself. Unfollow at a normal pace: X's rules prohibit following and unfollowing large numbers of accounts in a short time.
