Why it works without a login

Most unfollower apps ask for your Instagram password or sign in on your behalf. That gives an app full access to your account, and automated access can lead to blocks or security checks. UnfollowTool takes the route the platforms themselves offer: every platform lets you download a copy of your own data. You request that export, and this website reads the follower lists in it.

The trade-off is honest: you have to request a new export each time, and the tool can't send alerts. In return, no one but you ever has access to your account.

What happens to your file

• Your export is read in your browser tab. The file and the usernames in it are not sent to our server.
• If you keep "Remember this result" switched on, the result is stored only in your browser, so a later export can be compared with it. You can delete it at any time with "Delete saved history".
• Only the parts of the ZIP that contain follower lists are read. Photos and messages in the export are skipped.

You can check this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and select your export. You'll see that the file is not uploaded anywhere.

How it's funded

UnfollowTool is free and financed by ads. There is no paid version and no account. Ads never get access to your export or your results.

How we keep it accurate

The platforms change their export formats every few years. The tool reads current and older Instagram exports (JSON and HTML), TikTok, X and Facebook exports, and is tested against real export structures before every update. The guides on this site are written from our own exports and screenshots. If something doesn't work with your file, we want to know.
